Week 38 Monday 28th Nov

This would be Becca curseing for a number of reasons. 1) Why do I always have a camera

2) Why wont this baby come 3) Why cant I sleep in any position for more than 45 minutes!

She told Doctor Heather that she would bribe her with a cherry pepsi to get things goin today. But no luck. The result is Becca has read about accupressure and had Gabby squeezing her ankles in hopes of starting contractions. She is drinking some nasty herbal medicine she researched that is suppose to induce labor. Lastly she put on her once large now to small coat and her boots of course and left for temple square to see the lights with friends. Today is the 3rd we officially should be to the last week!! She is ready to be a mom, Kate is anxious to be an Aunt and Im carefully choosing my name maybe me ma, ya ya , nana or oma.

Nov 28th Our family Christmas Event

I went to the doctor with Becca this morning. No baby coming today or anytime real soon. He had grown nearly 3 1/2 centimeters. Everyone hurried home from work, school and other appointments so we could have our Christmas outting to have a nice dinner and get the tree. Usually we see a play or something as well but not tonight. Kate insists that Roman is the big event tonight and she has had dreaqms that he is coming on the 28thy. So when Bec got home and said I think Im leaking amniotic fluid, we thought we might just have a main event. We went to dinner and made our annual stop at Home Depot for the tree and then Kate went with me to the hospital for Becca to get checked. Beccas doctor called her and said she needed to go so off we went. I think Kaqte was the one a little freaked out when we got there. She looked around that big room and heard the monitor andsaw the baby warmer and siad mu sisters having a baby. Like it was new information. Well not tonight she isnt it was not amniotic fluid so home again we go.

Nov 14 trip 2 to the hospital

I was home today working. Becca has been here on and of allday between appointments. She woke up this morning and had eggnog and a waffle . She knows Roman reasponds to sugar . Then she lays on the couch and watches him kick. She has been concerned that he is not moving as much. My sister Jen just went threw a misscarriage it was heart breaking and unnerving. I think that was looming in th eback of her mind. How a woman really is not in control of whats going on inside of her. You can eat well exercise and love with all that you have and still things can go wrong. So at about 5pm Becca said mom hes not moving enough I want to go to the hospital. I drove her there why she looked out the window into the darkening sky , brushing away the tears that fell. She said "Mom I will never forgive myself if something happens to my baby." That was a priceless moment for me. She is a mother. I had to tell her a most painful truth about parenting. We cant fix everything. If our desire wer enough all children would be strong healthy never fall of the monkey bars, or get teased at school.

The nurse placed the monitor around her and there he was strong and loud his heart was beating. She was releived and all smiles and I shed my usual tears.

Becca went to work today and called me very concerned about the pains in her back and contractions she thought she was feeling. I had just finished my 3pm team meeting conveniently in Orem and said I could meet her at the hospital. She was not sure she should go and miss work. I couldnt garuntee her it was nothing. So we met at Labor and delivery at the Timp Hospital. It was the grand opening of the newborn intensive care unit. Balloons were flying, the parking lot was full and people young and old shuffled in to see the building. We followed slowly then Bec started snapping her fingers down by her side . Luckily the nurse spotted her and snatched us out of the crowd asking if we needed some real help. We discovered that the rooms at Timpanogas hospital could hold a family reunion. They checked Becca nd found out she had an infection that was causing the problem. It was a very painful exam and she kept appologizing for crying. I held her hand but honestly I felty pretty helpless. We went home with medicine and a water bottle. The nurse said drink more and she is taking her orders seriously.

37 weeks the mall

We saw the doctor today and all was well . Roman had only grown 1/2 a cm and Becca had gained no week but things were good. So we went to the mall to get some Christmas ideas. Becca loves shoes and this year she seems to love boots even more. Nomatter how pregnant you can find her gasping for breath to zip up a pair of boots.

Bec 36 weeks

In an effort of sillyness Bec and Aunt Kate took some shots that represent the OPPOSITE of how she feels. We can call them light as a feather. I think Becca noticed 2 stretch marks today and she was none to happy about it.

The new room Oct 21 2011

The new room is nearly perfect. Grandpa as usual did a beautiful job on everything. The built in dressers and closet are big enough for both the new babys things and for all of Becca's clothes and thats saying something. The new carpet matches the artwork perfectly and I couldnt be happier with how it turned out. Becca is pretty happy to have a place of her own to dress and sleep in every night. She is so happy to not be a nomad roaming from bed to bed . Truthflly I loved the nights she slept with me when Grandpa was working at the Vetrans Hospital. She talks about all of her thoughts and feelings. She will be a good mom, she is already very protective of you. We wedged the picture of the golden gate bridge into place I had to retouch up the wall it was such a tight fit. When it was all put together and the flat screen tv was in place Becca invited me to watch a movie in her room. We ate popcorn and set under her fluffy covers and watched The Back Up Plan. A movie about a woman having a baby. We also watched baby Mama the other day. I guess babys are on her mind. I bought you some baby lotion and something soft and yellow to wear.

PS 6 weeks left Elmo is waiting in the top of the closet for you.

32 weeks

Roman you were 32 gestational weeks old when I took this picture. It made me laugh. Mostly because your mother hates maternity clothes and thought she would wear one of her old t shirts. You can see how that went complete with the belly button. She is eatting tums regularly now. She doesnt throw up anymore at all but her back hurts and so do her hips. Sometimes she gets of the couch all hunched over and old stumbling around. Apparently you are taking up all the room. We laugh becaue you kick alot when she eats chicken. Thats kind of funny since Justin really favors chicken. Your mom texted me " I weighs 190 lbs ugg! "I laughed since honestly she has only gained 22 lbs you should be the perfect size. See you soon Manny.

Love you already.

Contest

Aunt Gabrielle has a photography class which she put to good use this past week (Sept 18). Becca wanted to enter the Baby Bump contest on a radio station web site. You enter a picture and then get people to vote for you. The most votes wins a$2,000 baby room and maternity clothes. Beccas phone crashed when she tried to mass e-mail so many people to vote for her. I bought the cutest little bouncy seat surrounded by light up and squeaky toys . Finn was very interested in it. I hope my baby Manny will be to. I decided that would be grandmas nickname for him. He will be my little manny a good shortening of Roman.

6 months

Becca was headed to Bear Lake with her girlfriends for the weekend. They have gone a couple of times to a great cabin. Its very restful except for the sleeping part which she doesnt do well anywhere. She takes her giant body pillow wherever she goes. Her dad bought that and some vitam E cream as a gift one day. You can see boxes in the picture. They are lights for the bathroom downstairs. We are moving along on getting the basement finished for our Roman. Becca decided his middle name could be her middle name Erin only spelled Arron. I bought Roman some clothes and books at a yard sale this week.

5 months

I took Becca to have her favorite turkey sandwich at Arbys. She balanced her drink on her stomach and said "look mom I have a shelf now." She has been more nauseated a few days this last week. You always know because she pats her chest like shes trying to keep it all down. She says eggs especially do not sit well.

20 Weeks

Shawn and I went to Becca's ultrasound appointment. All is well with the baby. He has a larger femur and bigger lips. We chuckled at that. It was amazing what they could look at and see. The technician took lots of photos and measurements. Afterwards we went to Thai Mango for lunch.

Pumpkin head likes pumpkin curry.

On June 8 we saw Dr. Heather for the first time. She took out the old sonogram machine and we got a little view of you. Your foot was in the air. We both laughed out loud and cried a little when we heard your fast heart beat. Becca couldnt quit looking at the pictures of the sonogram we took on our cell phones.

I have managed to get Becca hooked on pumpkin curry and it is the lunch special on Wednesdays so we usually end up there after your appointment. Im thnking you are going to love spicy food from the way your mom weilds a red pepper flakes shaker. She likes lookin at her picture of you on her phone. It is pretty amazing.

We go to the obstetrician today for the first time. Her name is Heather Harrison but she was not there because she just had a baby. We got some medicine some mom can go to Disneyland without throwing up. Mom likes the names Roman for a boy and Scarlet for a girl. I do to

April brought us

Baby Hadley John and Felicia's first perfect baby and your closest cousin.

It also brought Great Grandma Bonnie's 67th Birthday. She is gonna gasp when she sees great grandma in print.
MORP at the Spanish Fork High School for Taylor and Jocylyn

It was also Easter on the 24th and we dyed eggs as always their were Easter baskets for everyone even grandma and grandpa. That means you got your first easter basket, your mom was kind of surprised and tearful. Lots of things will be hard for your mom to do alone but we are family and family sticks together. You can confrim that from Lilo.

Trip to the ER

Becca called to tell me she had been rear ended in her little red ford by a large truck. Only her bumper was damaged but she didn't feel well and her back hurt. The doctor said her back would heal with some rest. For a precaution they took a sonogram to make sure the baby was ok. She is 7 weeks along and this is what said peanut looks like at 7 weeks. We went to chuck o rama but Bec felt nauseated and couldn't eat much more than jello and some potatoes. Heres to all day sickness.

April 6 2011

Becca insisted on meeting Shawn and I together to talk about something very important. She wanted us to come home immediately. Shawn was in a class and I had a group until 8:30 she had no choice but to wait until 9. At 9 we were still not home she could wait no more and said she would come to us. I went to the Utah Valley State College campus and picked up Shawn. We waited for Becca. She got into the back seat of the car, obviously troubled as tears were streaking her face, by thern I had a knot in my stomach.

"What's wrong Becca" I asked

"I'm pregnant. " She blurted out as if she could hold it no more.

"Ok honey what do you want to do."

"I dont know but I think I want to keep my baby. Everytime I go for a drive I keep hearing the words.( Iam a child of God and he has sent me here . Has given me and earthly home with parents kind and and dear.)"

Her dad said "Maybe you should move home so we can help you."

Becca said "Why are you so calm?"

Her dad replied, " Becca you dont yell at your child when they break their arm, you yell at them when you catch them jumping from the roof to the trampoline, so you can prevent a broken arm. We already did those conversations now were here so lets just do our best and move forward."

And so it began. Not in the optimal way but still with hope and joy we move forward.
